Is this opportunity remote?
Yes! All Connect N Learn tutors will be meeting with international students via a computer or another mobile device from any location they desire.
How often do I meet with the students?
That is entirely up to you! Whatever days you have available will work. We have plenty of students needing help all days of the week. You will, however, need to be flexible with timings as the students you’re teaching are likely to be in a country with a different time zone.
What prior experience do I need?
Prior experience in teaching and/ or tutoring is a valuable asset, but more than that we ask that you be committed and passionate about the program. Some students may not be able to speak English, and in those situations, we will only assign students to tutors who speak the same language(s) they do.
What prior knowledge do I need?
For the most part, you will be teaching younger children more simple concepts like reading, basic arithmetic, and beginner science skills. The teachers will inform you of what exactly you need to know. However, we will assess your prior knowledge in case you work with a student who needs a tutor with a higher level of understanding of a subject.
Will I get a lesson plan?
Most likely not, the tutors will be given an area to work with the student on, and the tutor should find resources or use resources from a prior class they have taken. However, if you struggle with approaching a topic, you can email us and we will help you.
Do I need knowledge of how to tutor different types of children?
Some of the students you will be teaching may have learning disabilities, and we would like to know if you have ever worked with a student with a similar disability, but we will not require that you know how to work with them. If you struggle to work with a student, reach out to us and we can manage the issue to the best of our ability. If you truly cannot work with a student, we will consider transferring you to another.
